Back home in Athens we also spent time at the beach. Sometimes I went with the Georgiadis family, and I often went with friends and neighbours to nearby beaches.



I was very lucky that Marlene worked for the National Tourist Organisation and she gave me complimentary tickets to all sorts of wonderful events in the Herod Atticus theatre - that lovely open air amphitheatre next to the acropolis. There I saw Margot Fonteyn and Nureyev dance, saw and heard Pablo Casals, David Oistrakh, Kirov ballet, various other wonderful music presentations, and traditional Greek drama.
