Europe 1964

On each page, you can click on the postcards to read
them, and on my photographs to see a larger image.

Assisi was a wonderful old town
with twisty streets and buildings
that seemed to tumble down
the hillside.

This was the misty view from
the balcony where we had breakfast.
We heard the churchbells and watched
the priests hurrying to mass.

My first look at Rome.

We had a magical evening
at the Villa d'Este wandering
among the fountains and lights.

The view from my hotel window -
the Castle of St Angelo.

Di at the Colosseum.

The fabulous Vatican Museum.
In each city we had a local guide to take us on a tour of the sights. In Rome we had a lovely young woman called Fernanda - she was Gina Lollobrigida's sister. There was so much to see - St Peter's, the Sistine Chapel, the catacombs, the Forum and Colosseum.... a wonderful experience.
